Melyssa Ford Channels Ntozake Shange For Own Stage Production

Melyssa Ford and her inspiration.

Get the full scoop from Bossip.com and TeamYee.tv.

The Canadian-born well video- and magazine-spreaded Melyssa Ford says Jim Jones' ('Hip Hop Monologues: Inside the Life & Mind of Jim Jones', written, produced and directed by Howard University alum J. Kyle Manzay) on-stage production inspired her to helm her own project.

Ford will, reportedly, act and sing in her 'For Vixens Who Considered Homicide When the Video Became Too Much.'

I'm actually halfway dying to know what When Chickenheads Come Home to Roose author, Joan Morgan thinks. Morgan, recognized as as a "hip hop journo" opened her non-fiction paperback with an account of how deeply she wanted the original 'For Colored Girls...' to resonate and validate her existence as a young Black female facing and resisting inscription.

Definitely expect more from me on this.
There are entirely TOO many intriguing intersections of race, class, gender performance, and on and on and on and. :-D Muy interesante.
