PREMIERE: 'Telephone' Lady Gaga & Beyonce

GaGa is such a problem.

I'm curious about how Bitch feels about this...
How a lot of scholars feel about this...
BUT initial reaction: I'm intrigued. She's worse than Minaj. Keep raising heck ladies.

LOVEit!: The Academy Award Winning Generic Movie

"Friendly, Black optimistic advice," [insert chuckles here]. YES!

I present to you everything you ever needed to know about formulaic, but somehow 'universal' stories in HWD. And they're calling this 'new school,' Prof. Schatz (1980-present). Interesting, no? See Jim Emerson's commentary aqui.

WEEKEND: 2 Very Good Night Suggestions

Poetry In The Streets (Split This Rock)
TONIGHT, March 11th
Upper Senate Park
D St. and Louisiana Ave., NW
4:30P-6P

The United States has now spent $1 trillion on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Meanwhile, our public schools and universities are facing massive cuts, millions of Americans are without health care, the earth is desperate for loving attention. Clearly, our lawmakers need the poets to tell them how to spend the next $1 trillion. Bring your vision for the country and the planet to the Capitol! On Thursday, March 11, we will create and read aloud a collaborative Cento poem at Upper Senate Park. Please bring a line from a poem (up to 12 words), by you or by someone else, that articulates this vision. Write or type your line on a piece of paper. Include the name of the poet, your name (if different), and your home town. The Cento will begin with these lines sent to us by Adrienne Rich, from “An Atlas of the Difficult World”:
I know you are reading this poem listening for something, torn between bitterness and hope, turning back once again to the task you cannot refuse ...

Tribeca's 2010 Lineup Announced

The Tribeca Film Festival is apparently treated like a tester for Cannes, which comes after and across the water. The Fest is in its ninth year, having been founded in 2001 by Robert DeNiro, Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff in an effort to revitalize lower Manhattan post-9/11.

The fest opens with the 3D world premiere of 'Shrek Forever After.' (Yes. A fourth one. And in 3D--but, I ain't gon' lie, I like this franchise.)

I'm moved by the following, so far--no surprises--they're mostly docs with lots of getWOKE! specials in betwixt and between:

Guess Who's Back?

Debra Lee, you are the one.

wow: MICHAEL EUGENE ARCHER!

If this man don't release an album and leave foolishness alone, so help me!

(via NME)

The love of my life  artist we remember through Voodoo, Brown Sugar and teases on other people's albums (como Q-Tip's The Renaissance) stands accused of attempting to pay an undercover cop for sex. D'Angelo was arrested March 6th, but maintains his innocence.

Look.

I'ma need you to step the gas up on that Old James River I've been hearing about for the last few decades of Betty White's life.

You know I'm with you through the fire, now STOP PLAYING ME!

Betty White On SNL, FTW!!

POW, baby! (With all the 'ouisiana left in me.)

So, no, I was not one of the original 331,000 Facebookies to advocate for Betty White on SNL, BUT trust and believe that is ONLY because my ADHD got in the way.

The group, now at 488,692, says:
"In 2010, Betty will be entering her EIGHTH DECADE in show-business. What a way to honor her, as well as entertain countless millions of people the world over who adore her as an actress, as a tireless animal rights advocate, and as a fanastic comedian!"
Tis utterly amazing, no? The 88(!! Doesn't she look a-mazing?!) year young White is set to host alongside alums Molly Shannon, Tina Fey (love her) and Amy Poehler (love her).

Be on the lookout for details of the appearance.

Oh, and great move, Lorne. Great move.

Kasi Lemmons on K. Big's Win

"I went to bed last night and woke up this morning in a glow. Words cannot express how incredibly inspired and uplifted I am by the image of Katherine Bigelow with an Oscar in each hand…It’s a great day!"

--Kasi Lemmons (Eve's Bayou, Talk To Me)

I'd also like to congratulate all the hypemen who brought 'The Hurt Locker's' post-Box office presence back to center stage by penning the ultimate metanarrative: directordivorcegate-2010.

(Forget that lackluster list of contenders--the real award should go to you!)
