ohSNAP!: Iranian Filmmaker Arrested, Home Raided




The Associated Foreign Press reported this morning:

"TEHRAN (AFP) – Award-winning Iranian filmmaker Jafar Panahi, a vocal backer of the opposition movement [that is, opposite Ahmadinejad], was arrested along with his family and guests during a raid on his Tehran home, his son said on Tuesday."

According to AFP, most of Panahi's films have been banned in Iran. He has not made any feature length films since 'Offside', in which a group of young women try to sneak into a futbol game disguised as men. Female spectators are not allowed in soccer games, hence Panahi's critique.
